Wales held a very successful G.B junior championships in the Capitol with some excellent boxing from all three nations. Wales annexed eight gold medals England won 15 with one of those being a walk over and Scotland unlucky with just one gold.
Wales had targeted a tally of four or five so eight was an excellent return for the Welsh squad. Splott ABC boxers won three gold medals with Chris Ellery (44kg B), McCawley Evans (70kg A) and Jerry Connors (48kg A) made it an outstanding Championships, for veteran coach Pat Mahoney. Jerry Connors met old foe and fellow countryman Luke Flemming of Red Dragon ABC North Wales in the final. Flemming who had had an excellent win in his semi final the day before had beaten Connors in this years Welsh finals, but this time Connors was really up for it and took the bout to Luke, winning nine points to five. McCawley Evans figured in a toe to toe battle with E Wharton of England with fortunes swaying first one way then the other and it was the Splott boxer who edged the bout by the score of 16 points to 13. Chris Ellery who won a Four Nations title in 2005 took on the tough Scotsman in his final. Ellery although having beaten Butcher in the 2005 Four Nations final, was the underdog on this occasion. Butcher chased the Welshman while southpaw Ellery tried to keep him at bay with long southpaw jabs but found himself one point down going into the last round. He stepped up a gear and won a deserved 8 to 6 points verdict.
Zak Davies of Cwmgors (48kg B) ensured his third British title with an awesome display of punching, stopping Michael Jamieson of Scotland, who had previously beaten the English Champion. Welsh speaking Zak, who is the quiet man of the Welsh squad was at the top of his game and unleashed a barrage of punches to force the referee to give the game Scotsman a standing count but Jamieson was far from finished and bravely fought back, however the Scotsman found himself 14 to 6 down after the first round. In the second round, Zak came out determined to finish it using solid combinations to both head and body, proving too much for a brave opponent, the referee wisely stopped the contest.
Ben Holloway (52kg B) gave the popular Kyber Colts club their first British champion. Ben who boxed well in the semi final saved his best for the final, with an excellent display of boxing against Callum Pearson of England. This was an outstanding contest between two very talented boxers and again fortunes swayed both ways with both boxers having purple patches. After three excellent rounds of boxing the score was tied at 8 all with Ben receiving the nod by 16 points to 15 on a count back. It was a shame for either to lose but the likeable Holloway proved a very popular winner.
Mitchell Buckland of St Josephs (54kg A) gave two outstanding performances to claim his title. Buckland figured in the best bout of the day in the semi final, with a toe to toe encounter beating the Scottish champion. In the final against Jerry Walsh of England he changed his tactics and counter punched his way to an excellent win by waiting for Walsh to mount an attack and then he would clip his opponent with a right cross followed occasionally by a straight left hand winning a comfortable 12 points to 6.
Tom Jones of Premier (Swansea) (50kg B) was too good for fellow Welshman Ashley Heir of Porthcawl in this final, but again Heir did not just lay down and really tried hard but the likeable Jones was always that bit too sharp for the popular Porthcawl boxer and Tom won by 18 points to 7.

Wales took ten boxers with their ages ranging from 12 years old to 17 years old and we annexed seven gold medals and three silver medals which was an excellent performance.
Partrick Waite of Cwmbran boxed really well in both his contests outpointing a Finn Ruslan Viktorov by a unanimous verdict in the semi-final and then he beat John Lee King of Repton England also by a unanimous points verdict. Patrick also received the Best Boxer Award for his age group an excellent result for both Pat and his club. Doug Price of Victoria Park also gave two very good performances to annex his gold medal he knocked out a Finn in his first bout and then he unanimously outpointed a Scott Alexandra Forsyth in the final. Sam Dyer of Porthcawl stopped Roni Remi in the first round with an excellent display of boxing in his semi final but his opponent in the final Reptons Callum Channing was taken ill with a stomach upset and withdrew the next day so Sam picked up a gold medal. Jamie Lee of Cwmgors beat the Scot Mark Parvin by a unanimous verdict in his semi and in the final he boxed Miko Hyytiainen of Sweden and although Jamie received a deserved unanimous points verdict he left one thinking just how good could he be if he showed his full potential. Other gold medal winners were Joe Morgan of Penarth who was called in during the last 48 hours to replace his gymmate Kieron Harding won his bouts quite comfortable, Liam Daddowof All Saints and Aled Cook of Gwynfi received byes to the finals and grasped their chances with both hands Daddow won by a four one majority while Cook annexed a unanimous points win.
Our three silver medallists were Kieron Pring of Penarth who had a good win on Saturday but he lost on points to Aaron Rogan of Ulster who is a European champion by a majority but fair verdict . Alex Hughes of Ferndale was bitterly disappointed after losing to the Finnish star Antti Hietala who is the reigning European champion, after easily losing the first round Aled came into the contest during the second but he was always chasing the score but the last round saw him really shock the Finn has he threw caution to the wind and finished the stronger and fresher. Kris Jones also of Ferndale did not appear himself against the Scott Callum Susan’s and he was way too short with most of his punches and he dropped a unanimous points verdict when it was felt that the real Kris Jones would have won very easily, maybe coming back after a broken leg has left him ring rusty.
The team coaches assisting the national coach were the veteran Keith Jefferies of Cwmbran and the ever popular Karl Jones of Fleur De Lys. The referee and judge was Billy Jones of Swansea who had a terrific and successful tournament.

Over the next few days/weeks, the new areas will be filled out with its information, and become available. As of today, all the information that was on the old website, such as the Club Information, Council, etc will be brought over (and may very well be out of date until information can be updated). Once this information has been updated, the new sections of the website will be added as the information becomes available to me.
Once the new areas of the website become operational I will eventually be passing on the content side of the site to John Wheatley, which will allow the website to be constantly updated (either by him, or myself).
